An AI agent in your dev server? We looked at Lavender MCP
A free resource lets Claude Code, Codex or Cursor talk directly to your FXServer: restart resources, read the console and even run Lua. Handy, but local only.
AI coding assistants are useful, but they can't see your running server. Lavender MCP Server by forum member Nimoa changes that. It's a free resource that runs a small MCP (Model Context Protocol) server inside your local FXServer, Cfx Server or RedM server.
What can it do?
Through Lavender, an agent such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor can:
- list and restart resources;
- read the server console and run console commands;
- run JavaScript or Lua on the server or on a connected client.
It's extensible, too. Other resources can register their own tools through exports, so the agent can, for example, look up a player in your framework. You don't need to modify Lavender itself for that.
How it works in practice
The author gives examples like "restart this resource and check the console for errors" or "where am I right now?". In the second case, the agent runs the coordinates native on your client. The biggest win is debugging: the agent reads the logs, edits the file, restarts the resource and checks the result.
Our verdict
For development, this is a real speed-up, and the way you add your own tools through exports is nicely done. But be clear about what it is: deliberately built-in remote code execution. So:
- Only use it on a local dev server, never in production.
- Don't expose the MCP port to the internet.
- On Enhanced, combine it with developer mode (
sv_devmode) so no real players can get in.
